8X1Rs422 - Professional Video Equipment

You control up to 8 RS-422 machines — typically VTRs — from a single remote command with the 8x1 RS-422 switcher. The RS-422 serial protocol, originally developed by Sony, uses 9-pin D-Sub female connectors and is the standard on professional and broadcast audio/video equipment. It runs on four differential wires (noise-immune), full-duplex, multi-drop.

A connector on the rear panel lets you plug in an external keyboard for remote control from another station. The 8x1 ships in a 1 RU 19" metal chassis with built-in power supply.
